Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…Eph 6:11-18
Why did He use these specific words to help us understand each part of the armor?
Why did God call it the Helmet of Salvation? The Helmet of Salvation because He must change out thoughts before He will every change our hearts.
The Breast Plate of Righteousness, He must control our heart, our emotions to live right.
Our Loins Girt About With Truth because whether male or female, that is the most intimate parts of our bodies. When Israel left God, He said that they went a whoring after other gods. They left truth which was Him.
The Sword of the Spirit because the spirit divides asunder the very marrow of the bones.
The Shield of Faith because it is a part that is movable. If your salvation is in trouble, you move faith to protect your head. If Righteousness has become a problem for you move the shield and protect your heart. If you are loosing your peace move the shield to protect your feet.
Now the Feet Shod With The Preparation Of The Gospel of Peace because when you have peace you can walk calmly and with assurance that each step is ordered by the Lord. You will not step to one side or to the other. You will not fall or trip. Your feet must be shod in battle. You may step on a rock during fighting or a fallen soldier’s sword. Peace will protect you in life’s worst situations.
Now that you may know a little something more about God’s Armor for you, work with it wisely, God has given you all you need to fight against the wiles of the Enemy.
